At Fortis Law Partners, we place great emphasis on making a difference in the lives of others. Our attorneys offer their time and expertise to a variety of meaningful causes through their individual pro bono work. As a firm, we take pride in sponsoring events that help address the needs of the communities in which we live and work.
Two such events are coming up soon. We want to share more about these amazing nonprofits, why we support them and encourage you to join us or make a contribution.

Fortis Law Partners is honored to be a double eagle sponsor for the Cathleen’s Cause Golf Tournament, hosted by The Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado (BIAC). BIAC is an incredible, nonprofit organization that provides invaluable resources and services to brain injury survivors and their families. This event is held in the memory of Cathleen Schmidt who fought hard for many years before succumbing to complications from her brain injury.
The BIAC has special meaning to Fortis Law Partner co-founder, Julie Herzog. At birth, Julie’s daughter, Madison, experienced grade 4 bleeding in the brain—the worst, most significant level of brain bleed—and suffered brain damage as a result. Over the years, Madison has had 37 different surgeries but with the help of various therapies, treatment and her own indomitable positivity, today she is a happy 13-year-old, attending middle school in a traditional classroom with a helper.
Julie and her family, friends, business colleagues and many other community members demonstrate their advocacy and care for brain injury survivors by supporting the BIAC. We hope that you will join us at the 2021 Cathleen’s Cause Golf Tournament, where all funds raised will go towards continuing BIAC’s efforts to support individuals with a brain injury.

Fortis and our clients Eden Innovations, Bonfire Engineering & Construction and Eldorado Natural Spring Water will come together to support the Anchor Center for Blind Children at their 2021 Foresight Golf Classic Tournament on June 21, 2021. The Anchor Center for Blind Children is a nationally recognized, private nonprofit agency whose early intervention and education services help children who are visually impaired or blind achieve their full potential.
This is another cause that is particularly near and dear to our hearts at Fortis. Julie Herzog’s daughter, Madison, had the opportunity to attend the Anchor Center for the first few years of her life. There, Julie was able to see firsthand how the Anchor Center can help transform lives and give children and families hope for the future.
We would love to see you at the tournament with us! It is an exciting opportunity to not only support the Anchor Center, but also to enjoy a round of golf at Sanctuary, one of the most exclusive private golf courses in the world, available to play on by invitation only or through participation in a limited number of charitable events like this one.
