Board aims to promote educational programming, scholarships and community-wide female empowerment
Denver (September 15, 2022)—Roxane Reyser, Partner at Fortis Law Partners, has been selected to serve as an inaugural board member for the new Golda Meir House Museum in Denver, Colo. The tiny Denver duplex housing the museum was once home to Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir, the Western world’s first female head of state and one of the most influential women in modern history. Meir pursued her education and lived in Denver during many of her formative years. As a member of the Golda Meir House Museum Board, Peyser will help preserve the history and culture of the American Jewish experience through educational programming, exhibitions, and research. Golda Meir was a powerful international leader and politician who had an immense impact on the course of history. As Israel’s first female prime minister, she led her country through one of its most difficult periods and paved the way for many other women worldwide to consider running for office. Only the third female prime minister in the world, Meir was inducted into the Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame in 1985.
The Golda Meir House, located on the Auraria Campus of the Metropolitan State University of Denver, is her only known U.S. residence. The Golda Meir House Museum Board is committed to creating a sea change for women and girls–and broader society–through funding education, programming, scholarships and access to resources. By sharing Golda’s tremendous commitment to gender equality, freedom, peace, and human dignity, the Board hopes to inspire and educate the local community.

“As anyone who has studied history can attest, the stories of great men have been well-documented and preserved, but the same cannot always be said for their female counterparts,” said Peyser. “However, that is beginning to change, and this Museum is a piece of a much larger effort to elevate the role of women in history, expand their influence in today’s world and build a more inclusive society that values the contributions of everyone.”
“As a female-founded law firm, gender equality is a core value at Fortis Law Partners,” said Julie Herzog, co-founder and partner at Fortis Law Partners. “We are thrilled to support Roxane in this endeavor as she helps the Museum provide a much-needed space for bringing Golda Meir’s history and experience to light and inspiring dialogue and change.”
